Thanks to the Bands E-mail

Thanks go out to all the bands who competed in the 2009 Toledo Battle of the Bands contest. Many thanks also to those who voted. There were about 10,000 votes, and over 250,000 visitors to the site.

And congratulations to the semi-finalists! There were 38 bands tied for 3rd place in the rock and roll category, proving it was a difficult competition.

The schedule for the semi-finals will be published on the website tomorrow. The sem-finals will be held July 3-4  at the Red, White, KABOOM Independence day celebration in downtown Toledo.

You know that old song, “You Always Hurt the One You Love?”

It’s happening in this year’s Battle of the Bands. And it’s making us scratch our heads a bit. All those great ratings and votes for the bands you support are backfiring due to foul language used in the comments. And those great ratings get removed.

You know the “7 Dirty Words You Can’t Say on TV?” Think about it. If you’re unsure if a word is acceptable or not, JUST DON’T USE IT.

To all entered bands, E-mail

Thank for your entry and welcome to the 2009 Battle of the Bands!  With your participation, we can continue and build upon the success of last year’s competition.

The Blade is particularly excited about the quality sponsors who have joined us this summer. Yark Automotive sees the value of supporting the contest, as well as Best Buy and the University of Toledo. Best Buy’s involvement will help us produce a CD featuring music performed by the semifinalists for distribution in the chain’s stores. We tried to offer this prize in 2008, but it took until now to finalize the details. For its part, the University of Toledo will provide technical support at Battle of the Band events.  We urge you to support these sponsors in return for their support of you.
